afternoons. mild out there. mild day. we saw temperatures in santa rosa in the mid-60s today. the jet stream is taking everything to the north. i pointed thisurt earlier -- this out earlier, that is a big ridge of high pressure. the forecast over night lows, chilly. like they have been. not as cold. we are getting high pressure that is making the air sink. it will be warm during the days, takes the edge off in the mornings. you are still getting frosty mornings, mid-30s, low 30s. 30 degrees. some people are doing a 40- degree spread. sunny and mild tomorrow. warmer in some places. warming trend sticks around. breeze is brought by the high pressure. i showed you at 5:00 p.m., you can see. pushed away. it is a visual clue. there is not a lot of clouds because the air is sinking. with that said, napa tomorrow 67. santa rosa 67. 65 novato. i don't think we will see fog tomorrow morning but we will see patchy frost. santa rosa, those spots, puckts inland. frost -- pockets inland. bay is so big it modifies the temperatures around the bay. ocean does that too. that is why we don't get a lot

washington, as well as the 100th birthday of our dear sister rosa parks. as our country continues to celebrate the beginning and as our country continues to celebrate the beginning of the second term of our great president, president barack obama. now, it's easy to take for granted the progress that we've made as a country because we are forever looking to solve today's problems and as we continue to meet tomorrow's challenges as we shape our future. but what it is, it's definitely worthwhile to take a look back at the great works of our predecessor and the brave men and women who have paved the way for progress that we enjoy here in the 21st century. and if you look around, many of those men and women are right here with us in the rotunda today. we remember the people who braved police dogs and fire hoses turned against them by their own government officials in the south, people who believed that an idea -- believed in an idea that we're all created equal and that we're willing to risk and that we're willing to risk their life in the purchase soul of a lofty promise in america. toda

holding on to 60s. it got up to 68 this afternoon. at the santa rosa airports oakland downtown, it was 62 degrees in pacifica. a beautiful day but only going to get warmer, clear, cold overnight. 70 degree temperatures you're not hearing things. by friday it's going to start to warm up. here is a look at the pacific satellite picture, with this ridge of high pressure remaining strong, none of this storms making it to the bay area were going to remain rain-free. here is a look at the forecast. clear and cold other than patches of low clouds tomorrow going with sunny, mild weather for the entire bay area from coast to inland. and we'll keep temperatures very similar for wednesday before starting to see numbers starting to go up. tomorrow morning make sure your little ones are bundled up and make sure have you a jacket or coat. it's going to get cold. 30 degrees in santa rosa. 3 to degrees for new fairfield, mid 30s in concord and fremont. san jose. 35 degrees in santa cruz. 44 in san francisco. highs for tuesday, 62 degrees in san jose it's going to be a sunny day february 12th. this

portions of the bay area. the fog is forming in the north bay near santa rosa. that is where is expected to be dense. and for the inland valleys. the 8:00 hours, some clearing. with mostly clear skies. sunshine all run the bay area. temperatures are going to be chilly. santa rosa. 40's in san rafael, freezing in fairfield. livermore, pleasanton. and 30's in the bayshore. 44 degrees and for the afternoon very comfortable. mainly in the low 60s but we will see 60s. palo alto, cupertino sunnyvale. 60s in san jose. largely 60s with 56 degrees in richmond and closer to the coast a bit cooler. 68 degrees and 69 in napa. we will continue this dry, warm pattered. it is keeping it well to the north and that is where is it will stay. not much rain but we do need it. the average rainfall we could save nearly 9 in. of rain fall. six in san francisco. this is where we are sitting with rainfall totals just 1 in. in santa rosa. we really need that rainfall but we're not going to get it with warmer conditions. to date for the entire year. santa rosa is at 100% now and falling, san francisco at 91%, 88% in san jose, those numbers are amazing considering how little rain we got the last two months. december was off the hook. we got a ton of rain and that's keeping us in the game. there's some rain out there the middle and end of next week. we'll see how that goes. these are current temperatures. forecast lows will be in the mid-and upper 30s, so pretty chilly out there now, plenty of frost tomorrow morning when you wake up, santa rosa 33, 35 at napa, doesn't have to be freezing to get frost. ever notice how it freezes on that front windshield because the inside of the car gets colder than the ground. so certain surfaces like windshields and cars get frost more easily, but you don't need freezing temperatures. sunny and mild tomorrow, extended forecast calling for warmer temperature. the high pressure sets up a warming trend and northerly breeze, stays with us not just tomorrow but through friday and then it breaks down. s that starts to break down -- as that starts to break down we got a

cooler. yesterday, we had some upper 60s. santa rosa, napa and downtown oakland hit 68. that will not happen today. tomorrow, more of the same. fog, sun but then the extended on thursday and friday look warmer. highs in the upper 60s and i think low 70s. still no sign of any rain as you can see. high pressure just says i will deflect everything to the north except for a few occasional high clouds. if you remember last friday, we did have a little bit of rain. our little bit of a rain has turned into a whopper of a system. snow in oklahoma city, 1 to had. er -- 1 to 4. there was about 9 inches in the texas panhandle. that little guy picked up a lot of oomph and is producing a lot of weather. 50s on the temperatures. we had low 30s this morning. had even cooler temperatures by the coast. now almost everyone is close here. about 53, 54, 55. a little more running at 57. concord is 53. still a compoint -- component offshore. the fog is going offshore. same for palo alto. sunny, nice. a little cooler, coast and bay. but everyone in on the sunshine. highs will be far enough away you don't ha

weather, maybe you want to sleep in for tomorrow. if you can. 34 in santa rosa. 35 in napa. also, 33 in livermore. you'll do some scrapes on the windshields, back of the east bay and for the north bay. that's where we'll see the numbers going the coldest. as for tuesday, a huge surge in numbers. here's the great thing about the bay area and our microclimate. a 30-degree jump in temperatures. 61 in dublin. 61 in the castro valley. not as warm for the east bay. but the north bay, 66 in santa rosa. it's going to stay dry in the three-day forecast, all the way through thursday, even for this upcoming weekend. nothing in the way of rainfall. but by monday of next week, it clouds up. and by tuesday, a look ahead to some of the supersecret weather models. it does look like we may get some rainfall by next tuesday. right now, on track for the driest ever january and february since climate records have started for a good section of the bay area. did you say supersecret? >> i'll show you some time. >>> coming up, a former niner who ignited controversy during super bowl week is trying to change pe

luther king, we would not be honoring martin luther king if not for rosa parks. rosa parks made martin luther king possible. (applause) >> and i believe that those four students in greensboro also made the accomplishments that we he attribute to martin luther king as a symbol of the movement. martin luther king understood that many of the things that we attribute to him would not have been possible without the grassroots of the struggle. and that brings me back to the book that i've written about the last 50 years. when i was a teenager, a 19 year old, i went to the march on washington. and right before going, i met some of these young activists who are associated with the student nonviolent coordinating committee. i must say that that affected the way in which i viewed the march. like everyone else, i wanted to see what martin luther king's concluding speech would be. but i was also interested in the speech of john lewis who was the chair of the student nonviolent coordinating committee. just days before the march, i had met one of the snick activists at a conference. his name was sto
